The 2013 waiting period is January 22th - February 7th, and with less than three weeks to go, the competitors are getting ready for battle at one of the most dangerous waves on the planet, dueling it out for $130,000 USD in prize money and valuable ratings points to kick off the 2013 year.
The Volcom Pipe Pro is an extra special event for the local Hawaiian competitors, being that it is the only chance for non-World Tour surfers to gain entry into the Pipe Masters, being held at the end of year. The top eight Hawaiian competitors in the Volcom Pipe Pro will be rewarded wildcard entries into the 2013 Pipe Masters, part of the Triple Crown series that wraps up the year.
