BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Friday, December 14, 2012) – The final day of the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons, the third and final stop on the 2012 Vans Hawaiian Triple Crown, has been called on, commencing at 9am this morning at the Banzai Pipeline.

The final stop of the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Billabong Pipe Masters will crown the 2012 ASP World Champion by day's end.

"We have building swell this morning and expect conditions to clean up as well so we'll commence the final day of competition at 9am," Marty Thomas, Vans Triple Crown Contest Director said.

"Looking at the remainder of the competition window, the best conditions will be today and we will finish the Billabong Pipe Masters, the Vans Triple Crown and the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour season by day's end."

Two surfers remain in the hunt for the 2012 ASP World Title: Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, and Kelly Slater (USA), 40.

If Slater fails to advance through to the Quarterfinals, Parkinson will be crowned the 2012 ASP World Champion. If Slater does advance to the Quarterfinals, he will have taken the lead in the race for the title and Parkinson will need to finish one place ahead of him to claim the crown.

Up first this morning will be Gabriel Medina (BRA), 18, Josh Kerr (AUS), 27, and Kelly Slater (USA), 40, will take to the water first in Heat 3 of Round 4.
