In order to keep the surf masses happy across our small coastal communities, we are pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Aotearoa Surf Film Festival for 2013 with an open call for film submissions to national and international surf filmmakers. It will become the first dedicated surf film competition in New Zealand with the aim of promoting the surf film genre and inspiring future surf filmmakers.
"We are very excited to establish the festival and aim to attract a high calibre of national and international film submissions. Our team will be working hard over the next 3 months leading up to the festival and will be making further announcements for towns and venues on the tour in early 2013". Says festival director Nick Stevenson.
The first annual ASFF will commence in March 2013 and will run in true kiwi style, taking a curated selection of international surf feature films, documentaries and short films on a summer roadtrip to coastal towns celebrating the best of surf culture, surf cinema and our connection with the environment.
