Good afternoon %%First Name%%,

The complex trough of low pressure is developing in the Tasman Sea moving over the country on Friday will deepen rapidly as warm moist NNW air flowing out from Queensland interacts with cooler air from Tasman Sea. The result is a fast moving weather bomb which moves SE to lie just east of the South Island for Friday. Strong to gale WNW winds will affect most of the North Island with a solid pulse of WSW for the West Coast and a small fading north swell dying out Friday arvo thru the East Coast. Friday night see a period of sustained cold SSE gale force winds clocking more SSW affecting Wellington / Wairarapa and all of the South Island East Coast regions continuing into Saturday. This will result in a heavy dangerous sea state overnight Friday and into Saturday before fading rapidly over the rest of the weekend.

Dave Rastovich, professional surfer and environmental campaigner was escorted by a pod of Maui's dolphins during a 40km leg of a two week paddle up New Zealand's west coast. The epic journey culminated on the sands of Piha, north of Auckland on Saturday, and is designed to draw awareness to the work of "KASM" (Kiwis Against Seabed Mining) and the threats posed by iron-ore mining.
