Kia ora %%First Name%%,

The Sandy Bay leg of the 2013 Hyundai Tour marks the half way stage of the five event series with the event taking to the water today for the first of three days of hot surfing action. If your in the area head down and soak up the action!

The large slow moving high pressure system that has dominated the weather over the last 7 days is finally on the move, drifting slowly east over the weekend. Strong blustery easterly winds over the top of the North Island shift more northeast as a trough pushes eastwards from the Tasman Sea. Expect warm sunny hot weather over much of the country with sea breezes but winds will start to clock more NW on Sunday as the trough approaches Southern New Zealand. Plenty of solid ENE ground swell for all the East Coast of the North Island but along with pesky onshore winds. Surf.co best surf spot this weekend is all along the West Coast from exposed Raglan Coasts thru to the exposed coasts south of Ahipara with a rising long period SW swell and clean offshore ENE winds.

The $130,000 VOLCOM PIPE PRO - a 5-star rated ASP event, will get underway at 8:30am HST this-morning after patiently waiting through four days of a 12-day holding period. The event requires a total of four days of great waves and with plenty of surf on tap, organizers can be selective. Waves face heights are currently 8-10 feet but are forecast to rise as high as 15-20 feet by the end of today's opening rounds. Watch it LIVE and keep updated via surf.co.nz
