James Dinnis - Carbon Art Surfboards

In the late 90’s, at a time when non-polyester boards where relatively unheard of, Carbon Art first began researching and developing composite surfboards. The company used its already proven knowledge of epoxy sandwich technology to steadily experiment and refine a system that would push surfboard construction to a new level. A level that would seek to attain a precision and performance consistency second to none, while continuing to take full advantage of composite technology’s inherent strength and longevity.
Part of the key reason for Carbon Art’s success has been its strict adherence to the principle that every millimetre matters. Right from the initial computer aided design through to the final stages of hands on detailing; each step has been developed to maintain the utmost accuracy. A unique system that involves quality control checks throughout its entire creation process, and ensures everything about the shape results in a board the way it was intended to be.
This process can only be successful with the full participation of the dedicated Carbon Art board builders. The team is carefully trained in the construction system, and perhaps even more importantly, really care about what they create, as they spend their non-work hours surfing what they make! They know that it’s the time they put in before your board goes out the door that makes the difference when you’re pulling into a deep pit or hacking the top off a solid slab.

As a New Zealand based company Carbon Art is proud to continue the Kiwi tradition of innovative thinking and be one of the leaders in epoxy composite surfboards worldwide. All the shapes get tested in diverse locations, from the worldclass surf breaks right on our doorstep to classic locations such as Indo and even in the far north regions of Scotland.
It's been a long journey but continually pushing for higher and higher standards has achieved the best possible end result. A board that can offer serious performance and a board that will continue to look and feel as good as the day it first touches the water. |
