Discovery Surf School is located in Mount Maunganui, Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand.

Walking on Water is a surf school based in Gisborne, New Zealand. We teach all ages and all walks of life to Surf. Open everyday, the school's goal is to give you a safe and super fun surfing experience and share the joy of surfing with you!

Our team of female and male instructors are stoked to offer a variety of tried and tested techniques that help both Adults and Kids get up and riding waves in no time!!

Your instructor Aaron Lock is one of New Zealand's most experienced Surf and Bodyboarding instructors. Lessons and coaching to all abilities of surfer & bodyboarder from Beginner to Advanced / Elite surfers. The basic Learn 2 Surf package is a two hour lesson designed to teach you the fundamentals of wave riding in the shortest time so you can spend less time 'kooking' it and more time 'ripping'. Surfboard and Wetsuit Hire is available as well as Surf Tours and Guiding.

With over 45 years experience, Aotearoa Surf School is recommended by both Surfing NZ and Water Safety NZ and offers surf lessons and coaching by International Surfing Association Level 1 and Level 2 surf coach Wayne Glover.

Based at Te Arai just 80 minutes north of Auckland and fully mobile, lessons can be provided anywhere between Orewa and Ruakaka.

The surf beaches in the area are among the safest in the world yet provide ideal conditions for surfers of all skill levels.

Beginners learn in safe gentle waves in waist deep water with your coach right next to you. Our 8:1 coaching ratio means you get the best supervision and tuition.

Lessons available for surfers of all competency levels: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. Shortboard and Longboard surfing.

You can come to us for lessons, tune-ups or board and wetsuit hire OR we can arrange longer tours in 4WD comfort (including pick-up and drop off) – either camping or in accommodation that suits you. Mark, originally from California, has 38 years surfing experience and holds Surf NZ Coaching Level 1, Surf Lifesaving and First Aid certificates. Our specialty is customizing surf or ski tours to suit you and your level of experience. Overseas visitors are welcome (airport transfers can be arranged upon request). Certificate in Surf & Surf Lifesaving (Level 3)
12 weeks full time, from late November to the start of February each year
This is a very practical surfing course that is run over the summer period. When not surfing, students will learn about weather and wave patterns, water hydraulics and wave types, surfboard maintenance and repair, first aid, resuscitation and surf life saving. Students will also be assisted in swimming technique.
The Zero Fee Scheme applies, meaning we pay your tuition fees so all you pay are the direct material costs for the course! (Applies to NZ citizens and permanent residents and Australian citizens residing in NZ). Students enrolled in this course can also apply to Studylink to receive Student Loans and/or Allowances over the summer.

Piha Beach is one of the safest and most consistent beaches in NZ. It is surrounded by massive rocks that look like animals and is nestled on the edge of a National rain forest only 40 minutes from downtown Auckland.

Piha Surf School has ISA (International Surfing Ass.) qualified instructors who use local knowledge and advanced techniques to get students up and riding as quickly and safely as possible.

We have smaller classes so students spend more time in a 'one on one' situation with their instructor. We also specialise in training competitive, advanced and intermediate surfers.

Isobar Surf School has a range of packages from two hours, up to five days. Lessons, all equipment, great food, and accommodation are included. Suits learners and absolute beginners. The ECP SUP school is a mobile school and travel throughout the Bay of Plenty region and surrounding areas to paddle the best spots.

During the summer months you can find our team down at Pilot Bay, a beautiful sheltered bay perfect for your beginner lesson.

Our experienced SUP instructors also do SUPSurfing lessons from Leisure Island along the Coast to Banks Ave, Mount Maunganui. If the weather conditions aren’t too flash we find a suitable spot to ensure you get the best possible start to your SUP experience.
