Building the 'Hotkurl'

Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl. Three layers are used rather than the usual two, so that they can be made thinner, this allows them to be bent more easily to the required rocker and the bottom concave.

The central panel has frames and blocking running athwartships. Since the central panel is on the neutral axis, fore and aft orientation is not necessary for strength.

how do you determine how much rocker is required and where that rocker begins and what effect does that rocker have on the boards performance?

We contact Winston Peters and ask him which curve to use.

It's a big question you are asking. This planshape I've done in similar lengths with a wide variety of rocker curves, from just over an inch nose and tail on a 9 footer to 7 inches as on this board which is 10'5".

The higher rockered versions have a tunnel fin with a slight angle of lift which effectively lowers the tail rocker.

lol ok so in essence the lower tail rocker lifts the nose end out of the water which reduces drag thus increasing speed and stability?
this board seems like it is made for waiwhakaiho

Quite so, it's an exceptionally woody sort of word.

On the Nautical theme I always enjoyed the phrases " STARBOARD!!!!!" and "BUOY ROOM!!!!" they are gleefully robust.

Well the nose gets the water flow first, and that means that most of the lift is produced there. Planing hulls have a high pressure area at the leading edge of the wetted surface area and pressure ( and lift) drop off dramatically from there. Lift from the nose reduces the amount of board in the water as speed increases, this reduces drag compared to what it would be if the area didn't reduce.

By putting a tunnel on the tail we get a higher pressure area and more lift in the tail, because the tunnel gets fresh water flow.

The grammar is correct, perhaps you are confusing the use of slang with grammar issues.

Ironically your grammar in the post above is not correct, since you use no capital letter at the start of the sentence and the sentence has no subject or verb.

I merely reported his appalling behaviour, whereby he entered a competition which he was head judge of, and then called his own heat from the judges stand without warning when he saw a suitable peak down the beach.

He then reported that he felt 'warm fuzzies' after winning.
