bit of anger goin on there chux, no idea who Gareth Morgan is but I'm not that keen on cats.

There was a guy on tv a few years back who was making Daniel boon type hats but with cats, face on the front tail hanging down behind, from memory he got annihilated by the cat botherers

I agree chux, no one cares about him the media says we care cause he is there. such an ugly hair lipped gimp. cant complain about cats when they brought rabbits, mice and stoats over then cats to kill the stoats...cats are just an easy target and its a sensationalist distraction from the real issues. hate the fact we are talking about him.

Yep the introduced species one is a lark here, reminds of this Simpsons episode

Skinner: ahh, but as it turns out the lizards where a god send since they've eaten all the pigeons.
Lisa: Isn't that a little short sighted, what happens when where up to our ears with lizards?
Skinner: Ah, well we shall simply release wave after wave of Chinese needles snakes.
Lisa: then what about the snakes?
Skinner: We simply import gorillas who will eat all the snakes.
Lisa: Well what happens when where up to our ears in gorilla's!
Skinner: Ah that's the beauty of the thing, come winter the gorillas will freeze to death.

thing is, we will never get rid of cats and its just a sh1tty story to make gareth more of a household name so he can peddle some more snake oil to the dopey.

to be fair cats near sanddunes and wetlands do have drastic effects on bird populations, both native and introduced. But then again so do people

all gareth needs to do is make sure that the eating of cats is not a criminally prosecutatble offence... then nature will run its course...

To say "Bah they are only part of the problem leave em alone" is retarded

Should we do the same with some crimes cos there are to many to effectively control ?

There are intensive trapping programs and restrictions on breeding of stoats/ferrets
Dogs are trapped and euthanased when found wandering and unclaimed
RCV was introduced to kill off rabbits
and rats and mice are systematically poisoned !

At the wellington meeting the cat fags walked out cos they saw the points presented by ecologists and Gareth were constructive and unbeatable.

Wisdom will prevail

Or Next we'll have Cabbits

Don't get me wrong i think cats are okay
my neighbor puts out saucers of antifreeze so cats coming onto his property wont freeze in winter that's nice of him

lets focus on the rats and rabbits till we move on to animals some people care about. There are wild cats, so many you will never kill them all. What a stupid argument you bring trailoftrash, filled with c&%tyness and derision.

Rabbits don't kill native birds
lots of people care about protecting our native birds and there are rat trapping programs.

i know your full of

c&%tyness and derision
but you probably feel like that cos your cats making you sick I'd suspect Toxoplasmosis or bubonic plague cos cats can carry that.

why would you even say that roy leave your racism out of it and its the studies and counts saying these birds are becoming critically endangered

on the anti gareth fb page some highly intelligent north shore residents commented there were no birds in their area so their cats weren't to blame

what is it about cat people that they can't discus such a simple concept as leaving a few birds alive so their children can hear a bird sing.

our ancestors had a negative impact on Nz flora and fauna and are hated for it and our childrens children will hate our inaction and its results

the stupidity of the father shall be visited upon the son !

We have four cats and our section is teeming with birds including Tui... if people plant trees then birds come.. they like trees. The North Shore when I lived there was full of birds, we had Moreporks galore and used to feed the birds every day...the lady next door had about 20 cats... the difference is the trees it is a no brainer. By the way my comment was not racist but the 'only indigenous species' are valued policy certainly is.

Gareth Morgan is a tool,he should start saving the planet by getting rid of his Harley Davidson motorbike.I hate the sound they make and the wanna be bad grand pa types who ride them on a Sunday.Get rid of cats=population explosion of rats and mice.Seems pretty obvious.I guess you will be wanting to expand the 1080 drops into the cities as well. That will be really good for the environment

oh wow Roy yea the antifreeze stories pretty sad that sucks. I'm a cat person, grew up with them as family pets and have always loved them.
growing up in east auckland we had 3 cats and most of our street had 1 or 2 or more aswel. We also had hundreds of trees around the place (and luckily there still are) and hundreds of birds in the area including tuis and those parrots you see around auckland sometimes. bugger all rats tho...

what is it about cat people that they can't discus such a simple concept as leaving a few birds alive so their children can hear a bird sing.

yeah nah i think my kids would prefer cats but impretty sure they will have both

You are correct Dunga...many cultures around the world rever the humble "roof rabbit" for its culinary properties.

Also their skins can be stitched togetther to make a fine coat, or steering wheel cover...so that little of the beast is wasted.

...and of course they have the advantage of being particualry easy to catch- even children can do it.
