limes and lemons are hipsters with jo 90 specs and beards. Radlers and fruity tasting beers are week a55 5hit. Mike TPA her in Tara is pretty hard to beat atm, I think it is also 7.0% two pint Kicker.

This beer has been reported to propagate the wickedest, most flavoursome burps. ?Mouth-feel is chunky and viscous, a beer that you can truly get your teeth into. Serve chilled in a stemmed glass, allowing the rich colour to shine, and the aromas to entice the drinker. This beer is dangerously moreish for a 7. 0% ABV candidate, so beware and please drink responsibly.

I was real keen on trying that Mikes place in Taranaki but ran out of time there. I virtually never drink the same stuff twice - theres always something new to try out.

A few nods from me:
Porter & Stout
Invercargill Pitch Black - great stuff.
Boundary Road chocolate mousse - insanely sweet but 1 or 2 are delicious
Harringtons Baltic - expensive but worth a crack
Geekbeer coconut porter - very drinkable
Stoke bomber oatmeal stout - eatin and drinkin in it
Cassels milk stout - amazing. And its just down the road from me.

Wheat:
Tuatara hefe - very light and easy to drink if you are not mad about wheat beer
Three Boys - blows the head off me but its very tasty stuff, but a bit expensive
Macs great white - cheap and pretty decent

I'm not such a fan of IPA as they are often too hoppy for me but..
Yeastie boys pot kettle black is certainly worth a try as is EPICs IPA.

Well he won't be on my case for it, I don't drink it. Beer reacts to light, hence the dark bottles. The only reason Corona and the likes are in clear bottles are for marketing - and they need to put in an additive to stop it from misbehaving.

I brew my own, using a mini brew-in-a-bag technique. Currently enjoying an Anzac Pale Ale with lots of NZ cascade in it, got a saison ready for bottling in the fermenter, and going to brew a weizenbock this weekend for winter. Here is some info on BIAB - seriously, anyone can do it with a $100 brewing kit from the supermarket, one or two big pots, thermometer and a grain bag. http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easy-partial-mash-brewing-pics-75231/ [homebrewtalk.com]

Here's the original recipe for Pot Kettle Black:
http://aussiehomebrewer.com/topic/52920-pot-kettle-black/ [aussiehomebrewer.com]

It's got a heap of hops in it.

I was forced to drink a sassy red recently. Goddam awful beer. Tasted stale and metalic, nothing like the english bitter it tries to be.

Battery you cultureless oaf, truffles are not in season yet.....

Yeah i don't drink these all the time - like Daemon, my staple is home brew. I'm just at the end of my last stout which was pretty decent, but a mate brews everything from scratch - I'm still at the kit stage with a few additions. He made a wheat beer 2 months back that was one of the best beers i've ever tasted - total cost worked out at 22bucks for 50 bottles.

But drg wanted some recommendations - you can get some of these on beercellar.co.nz but i generally just hit them in pubs as I'm not keen on spending lots on bottles of craft beer for home.
Tuatara/boundary road are in a lot of supermarkets.

Its amazing the difference in what supermarkets offer. theres a fresh choice over in New Brighton which is a pretty average supermarket but its beer selection is phenomenal. I'd be real keen to hear of any microbreweries in the NI that people recommend. I agree that NZ does have some flippin great beers.
