I love listening to slater commentating too. He reads every single wave and froths on all of them. His knowledge of the entire scene Is just amazing. He'd see a wave coming through and would liken it to a certain wave in a heat years ago etc
It's easy to see why he is where he is - he just lives and breaths it
It was pretty funny to see an ad popup for "so and so surfer wears x board shorts" and he was just in a heat, never made a wave and John John had 4 waves over 9.3

Chris ward? Hes pretty inconsistent in events but regularly makes finals. Won Padang pro last year too. I see him a bit like Dane - super talented but not patience/strategy focused. Easily one of the most exciting surfers to watch though
He nursed every wave and finished second 
I think that is the first comp where he has focused on strategy and backed his own ability was a tear jerker for me tbh.
John Johns late drop was on par with slater freakiness.
