hi, does anyone have any recommendations for a wetsuit for surfing in the south island in summer? (im from christchurch)
been using a really cheap old 3/2 but finding it a little cold, and especially hate the icy flush of getting in the water first thing in the morning with unsealed seams. But if I get a thinner suit with sealed seams will it be too hot?
thanks in advance for any recommendations
I've an Xcel infiniti 3 2 that i would highly recommend but to be honest if its just for summer, Christchurch doesn't get very cold - any 3 2 in your budget should suffice. One good tip is to make sure you dry it in the shade rather than the sun - the summer sun here is pretty intense and glued/sealed parts can easily crack in the heat and as well as seriously shortening the life of your wettie are pretty uncomfortable on the skin.
Very good suit for the money... might be alittle to hot on the odd day but mostly will extend your summer surfing an extra few months
thanks a lot Downsouth. the sun here is indeed intense!
found this one which seems like a good deal, in my size and is quite similar to yours.
so you reckon you don't get too hot in yours through the summer?
oh, snap! thanks Battery. same one. seems like a good one to go for. cheers guys
I live in Nelson and have got a 2ml O'neil Epic Warm as toast. And always urinate in ya wettie it keeps ya warm and prolongs the life of it.
Boardies and a rashie on warm days - 3 2 is pretty warm in the middle of the day mid summer.
what about this?
If you want a perfect fit and a suit thats custom made for exactly what you what and which will last quite a few seasons go see Seventh Wave... mean custom suits... good value in the long run...
