For those of you....
that can walk from your house to the surf.
How awesome is it?

Local at nowhere, eternal blow in.
Pretty good. Unfortunately the banks at Houghton Bay are garbage at the moment.

used to when i lived in ohope, went upstairs and saw how big the waves were from the lines. so checking it was easy. Now I live 10 min bike ride away or two minute car trip. can hear waves at night, so just listen before I go to sleep and get an accurate account of how big it is.
its pretty dam awesome but the salt can be a annoying.
Beyond awesome
with the summer sea breezes the local is the only good wave

One day, one day...
Awesome to see the ocean calm down before your eyes, instead of the trees around the house... allows for the "RIGHT NOW" factor that is so important in surfing.

just as awesome, when its real cold you can drive and be back in the shower 90 seconds after exiting the water
but yeah running down the road with ya boar dunder arm wettie half down on a friday evening past Alf , Indy and Ruby is cool too

Those are people who die die. They were all my friends, and they died.
Breakfast lunch dinner on the seawall, staying in bed because it sounds flat or onshore. Waking up early because it's so loud.
All of those things are overrated. Nothing beats the drive with anticipation, frothing about the 4ft, turning up to dribbles.

Negative thinking, positive doing
I used to do that when I lived in Westport. I must addmit I miss being able to do it. The walk to the beach thing.

This was from my kitchen a couple years back - i don't have the same view now, but its a quick walk down the street.
The best thing about living next to the surf is you know it inside out - you know the tides, how every kind of bank is working and you never miss a good session. Unless you fu(k yourself up and can't surf for a few months, in which case living by the sea is cun-ting torture.
One of the best luxuries in life! Having a view of the ocean is like having a Picasso painting that changes every hour.

If you can't surf it, F&$k it!
it's very awesome. Under 10 mins for me. way less if its pumping ![]()

were up a little valley so were sheltered from the harshness of the sea, i can see the sea surface from my bedroom but its a 3minute walk till i can see the shoreline so i get that anticipation factor also and as i walk down the road i see more and more of the sea i see.
My View right and left from a 200metre walk down the road, unfortunately it doesnt look like this everyday!!
but id be spoiled if it did.

I'd love to live next to the beach but only if I didn't have to drive a hefty distance to work. That to me would more than ruin the awesomeness of living at the beach.

Nah, my gib stopping sucks big time. Lucky if I can fill a nail hole evenly.
