People have lost their ability (or they never had it) to think for themselves. Crocodile tears [youtube.com] Nice 'people'
Obama is a mass murderer... as is the the rest of the US govt.
Banning guns just puts the murderers completely in charge, which is a bad idea.
Also, banning guns always increases crime and has been the first move made by many governments prior to mass extermination of the population.
It would be preferable to require every household to have a gun, as is the case in Switzerland, and in a town in Kansas which has had a massive reduction in crime as a result.

Jabes if gun laws changed then we'd be able to see if crime statistics changed afterwards, but gun laws here haven't changed ( as far as I know) for a long time.
I'm looking at what's happening in other parts of the world. Look at Australia where a massive crackdown on guns has been followed by an increase in violent and gun related crime.
The elephant in the room is that those who enforce gun laws are (globally) the worst mass murderers of all.

see i dont think a gun ban is needed but something like what we have here would surely make things a bit more sensible rather than being able to have fully automatic rifle which at the end of the day is only for killing people!
seen a lot of people bring up Switzland as a beacon of high gun ownership their laws are quite reasonable and were changed in 1999 with so seeming backlash?

The situation in the USA is different because the 2nd amendment is in place to safeguard people's ability to remove tyrannical government if necessary.
Thus the basis of gun ownership rights over there is the ability to use guns to kill people if necessary.
Given that governments have guns for exactly that reason and given that governments are by far the worst mass murderers, it makes sense for the people to have arms not just for hunting and sport but as a military counterbalance to the power of the state.
In NZ one is mot allowed to own a gun for self defence against humans, so automatic weapons do not correspond with gun ownership rights.
Which is best is a matter of opinion, I favour the US model, but find the NZ laws ok.

Not currently with firearms 2020, but my son does a bit of hunting for the pot with his boxing trainer so is going to apply for a licence.
I did a bit of target shooting back in the day and enjoyed it, but dislike killing animals so gave up having a gun. I'd hunt for food if I needed to though.

Quite so same here. Any legally stored gun would take a while to get out and functioning too.

Putting a ban on sales of automatic weapons to the public might be a good thing? And as BC suggests, gun licenses so you can't just walk into D!cks Guns and Liquor (no joke [therenaissancechick.blogspot.co.nz]) and buy yourself a couple of 40 oz's and an M16.
interesting thing is too roy you bought up Switzerland did you know what their laws entail?

I'm against guns but if the government owns them i think people should be able to too. btw the thing that is cleanly kept out of the media is that the guy was on psychiatric drugs. I mean, come on. Cannot anybody seen the link.. .
i think personally this is one of celentes best.. putting it in the right perspective.
Apparently the drug companies ( psyciatric drugs) where running adverts throughout . the " marathon" coverage.. you know /. . it's hard to get a sense of reality In what that means in terms of a level of evil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ro_zVgQdC54&feature=youtu.be [youtube.com]
