Grommet Trip
The $800 excess baggage fee, angry locals and small onshore surf wasn't enough to put a dampener on a recent Billabong grommet trip to northern NSW, Australia. Keone Campbell, Matt Hewett, Buck Woods, Ben Poulter and Dune Kennings all made the most of the crumbly conditions and warm water.

Sometimes I feel more like a courier than a photographer, driving all day from one place to the next. It's just as well New Zealand has a few nice sights along the way.
East Coast Summer
The drive from Taupo Bay to Mt Manganui takes about 8 hours. But having driven up to Taupo Bay only that morning, then having left that evening at 9pm in order to get the island on, I can tell you it it feels more like a 20 hour drive. Cyclone Rene didn't produce as good quality waves as many had hoped, but who can complain with super fun waves and water as warm as I can remember.
